The moment you open a second location, your loyalty program gets harder. A loyalty app that handled a single shop fine suddenly has to answer questions like: do points transfer between branches? Can a customer redeem in Cebu what they earned in Makati? Who sees whose suki list? Getting this right matters because branches that fight over rewards confuse customers and quietly cost you trust.

The two models

There are essentially two ways multi-branch loyalty can work:

  • Shared points across branches. One wallet per customer per business. Points earned at Branch A can be redeemed at Branch B. This is the right call if every branch is genuinely the same brand and the same experience.
  • Branch-local points. Each branch tracks its own customers separately. Useful for franchise setups where each owner runs their own promos.

Pick before you launch. Switching after customers have built up balances is painful.

Why most small chains want shared points

Customers don't think in branches. They think in brands. A regular at your Makati café who travels to Cebu and walks into your other branch expects their points to come with them. If they don't, that customer feels demoted — and you've just turned a positive into a friction point.

Shared points also let you see cross-branch behavior: which customers visit multiple locations, which branches drive the most cross-traffic, where your best customers live.

What to look for

  • Branch-level visibility. Each branch manager should be able to see their own suki list, not just an aggregate.
  • Staff accounts per branch. Tellers at Branch A shouldn't be able to scan or issue rewards at Branch B.
  • Per-branch overrides. Sometimes Branch C wants to run a local promo. The app should allow that without breaking the main program.
  • Single customer identity. The customer carries one Loyalteey ID across every branch. No re-enrollment, no second account.

A 3-branch example

A milk tea brand with branches in Manila, Quezon City, and Pasig moved from three separate paper-card programs to one shared multi-branch loyalty app. Customers complained less (finally, my points actually mean something), the owner could see which branch had the highest-value regulars, and a single birthday reward unlocked at whichever branch the customer happened to visit on the day.

The trap to avoid

Don't let branch managers run wildly different reward schemes under the same brand. Customers will notice, compare, and resent the difference. Centralize the core program; allow controlled local promos on top.

The Loyalteey app handles multi-branch on the Pro Plus plan: unlimited branches, staff accounts per branch, one customer ID across every location, and an owner-level dashboard that aggregates across the whole brand. Start on Free with one shop, and when the second branch opens, the program grows with you instead of breaking.
